     Has a source which re-distributes all Rx Drugs (except injectables) to 3rd world countries

Rx Drugs - disposal

Contra Costa County has a new Rx Drug Disposal service @

  1. Walnut Creek City Hall, 1666 North Main in Walnut Creek
  2. CCC Sheriff 1980 Muir Rd, Martinez
  3. CCC Regional Med Cen - Sheriff's substation 2500 Alhambra Ave, Martinez

Those returning drugs should seal pills & bottles of liquid in plastic bags. Either remove or black out the patient info on lables. Controlled substances such as anti-depressants or painkillers must be turned in to Sherriff's locations

 

Batteries, household

     Used batteries should not be disposed of in household waste (enforced by current California law). 

     A number of retail stores currently collect used batteries.  They include:

          Long's Drugs

          Ace Hardware

          Rite Aid

          Radio Shack

          Walgreens

          Many city offices

          All large retail chains that sell rechargeable batteries are required to take them back.

     They are also taken at the Contra Costa Household Hazardous Waste collection facility
